Life In The Spirit

When I came into my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, I was a buck wild, ready to save the entire world, zealous, full of excitement and had enough energy to fire up an entire church full of saints. But as time wore on, that zeal and fire became diminished by daily struggles, failures, and other things that literally took my focus off Jesus.
Does that sound familiar? If you were going to be honest, would you admit it to yourself that you have come to that, if not once, but several times in your walk with the Lord?

Don’t feel bad. Don’t stress about it. Most importantly, remember that you are a human trying to be like something that it quite impossible. Like God.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:48, “Therefore you shall be Perfect, just as your Father in Heaven is Perfect.” He was speaking this is about loving your enemies, doing good to those that hate you, and praying for those that spitefully use you and persecute you. Why? So that you and I may be Sons of our Father in Heaven because he makes His sun rise on the evil and the on the good, and sends his rain on the just and the unjust.

Life in the Spirit is not a meant to be a life of convenience. It was never meant to be easy, and it was never meant to be preached to get rich, or have something if you perform and submit to it’s truth’s. It’s quite the opposite.

The benefit of walking in the Spirit is learning to be led by the drawing of the Father by his Truth that is spoken and written. The Holy Spirit is always teaching us, speaking to us, moving on us, hovering over us, moving us. He is the “Indweller”, the “Lover”, the “Revelator”, and the “Inspirer” of God’s truth, life and way.

The greatest challenge that every Follower of Jesus Christ is the daily decision to pick up their cross and follow the Spirit. The “FIGHT” or the “STRUGGLE” is one of the flesh. It’s never about the Spirit, because the Spirit is never “INCONSISTENT” when it comes to living for God. We, Humans, are usually fighting the “FLESH” to watch a program vs picking up the Bible, praying, or just simply laying still long enough for the Holy Spirit to mend your heart in the quiet times.

The World’s system is vying for your attention just like the Holy Spirit, and the World usually, if not always, wins the “ATTENTION WAR”.

Living in the Spirit is not some esoteric message of weirdness or strange fire. It’s the way that Christ lived as he walked the earth. Christ lived it, he ate, he breathed it, he walked it, he spoke of it, he was literally surrounded by moment by moments of Life in the Spirit opportunities he chose to walk in, as the Spirit gave him gumption to move about doing miracles, so many that the Bible says in Matthew 21:25, “ And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.”

This Life in the Spirit was meant to be an adventure as we walk through this Earth. We are to make no friendship, relationship or connection to the World System, but we are to leave a sign and a wonder of the Work of the Holy Spirit at every step that we place our feet at.

Today I want to encourage you to read the Gospels of Jesus. Meditate on the way, the life and the truth that Jesus walked in. Make it your mission to be Led by the Life of the Spirit. Make it your mission to break through the norms of every day regular life. Make your life a choice to Live in the Spirit.
