John 3:19-21 says,
“And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
My eye went to the first words in this scripture after Jesus explains to Nicodemus how a man must be born again before he can enter into the Kingdom of God.
“And this is the condemnation…” especially caught my attention. I had never read that before and paid attention to the language used here. I don’t believe that God condemns people, but that people, according to this scripture, condemn themselves because of their decisions.
I believe that people make their own decisions in life, not the devil. Satan does not possess that kind of power over us, unless we give him permission to have it. We either agree with the darkness or we agree with the light.
When I confess my sins, and I submit myself to my brothers in Christ, I am never turned away by my Father in Heaven because I believe and choose to walk in the Light. The Truth is in me when I walk in the light. The light is representative of being in full view of God. My actions are seen by Him, when I expose my deeds so that He can see them.
The darkness represents anything that God would not do or allow in His Kingdom. Are you in the light or are you in darkness?
